I inspected the SDMA patch, and it appears to have a 68ohm resister installed, presumably by Rodolphe during the CT60 installation. I verified that the patch is working properly by running SDMATEST.PRG found here in 030 mode:

There is no additional capacitor there, so I assume that workaround was not needed on my system. There are no cracking sounds when testing at 50 KHz with 4 tracks so I think the SDMA patch is good.
Do you think this rules out SDMA as a cause of the CT60 problem?
Regarding the NVRAM, I tried again to clear the settings with RESETNVR.PRG

This time I think it worked, since the computer started in German. I set the clock time and date using CLOCK.CPX, but it does not keep time after reboot so the battery must be quite dead.
I tried again to flash the SDR which succeeded and verified ok, after which the computer will not boot unless I remove the CT60. Nothing has changed so far, and I do not expect the replacement NVRAM chip to arrive for few days.
