Congrats to you because you came up with a strategy that probably can not be beaten when looking for speed with 4 voices and 50 KHz replay on STE.

As to my dids, let's say that my Hextracker experience helped a lot in understanding your code and updating it to allow the several available options now.

Yes, i think the sp trick is a very clever one and as i wrote previously i did not know about that behaviour until i first had a general look at your code in 2004 because Leonard refered your routine to me. As i did not find there any special thing that could improve Hextracker, that has to handle a variable number of voices and a big amount of replay frequencies, i did not have a deep look at it until the beginning of this thread.
Hextracker, that was designed on STF, has quite a different strategy with the STE output mixing built a last layer on top of the core 16-bit mixer.
Sample input is always 7-bit minimum and can even be 8-bit but with less performance.
LCM is not used at all.
Of course the result is that in the same conditions of your routine, it takes twice the CPU time. But on the other hand, it can work with full 8-bit samples, volumed to 13-bit data (4 voices stereo) at 50 KHz and it is very easy to replay any number of voices from 1 to 32(2 times 16->1 mix).

Hacking Lance still needs 6 voices and 8 voices replay with a new set of mixing routs where no LCM is used and add.b dx,(sp)+ is done instead of move.b dx,(sp)+. Of course input samples would be reduced to 6.41 bits and 6 bits respectively.
But i don't have time for that at the moment.
Also, i want to implement the features i did for Hacking Lance, among others, in Hextracker like trash play, BPM support and some more.
