No, i mean the number of pieces the VBL is divided in.
Lance base code divides the VBL into 25 pieces / frames / chunks.
So the generated code corresponds to 1/25th of the size needed for the length of 1 VBL.
If instead of 25 pieces, you divide the VBL in 5 pieces, the calling set-up code is only used 5 times, so you save 20 times (40 because of stereo).
40 x 64 cycles = 2560 cycles (1.6% CPU)
But due to the several impacts of the 25->5 move, you will need around 2 MB for the generated code.
On top of that, the BPM precision would be reduced from 1/25th of a VBL to 1/5th of a VBL.
A 25->20 change is possible for 50 KHz and 25 KHz replay with the needed memory growing about 100%. But the gains are only: 5 x 2 x 64 = 640 cycles (0.4% CPU). I don't think it is worth the effort in implementing it and the memory expense.

But this is open-source, so anyone is free to do it.
