Haha, it's easy to say get a new TV. Quite different when it comes to putting up the money :-P I think you're right, even with a converter, it would probably end up looking crappy. So a converter box is crappy looking, AND expensive, AND most of them won't work anyway.
The cheapest way to do this is cheaper than a NEW 54" Large screen, cheaper than a converter which probably won't look right anyway. The cheapest way also is HIGH QUALITY! The way Americans can view Pal graphics demos is by using an Atari RGB monitor OR an OLD American NTSC TV and adjusting a "pot" in the back called a vertical hold. So the answer is to find a way to adjust the vertical hold on my large screen. Even the crappiest TV's used to have this adjustment. This isn't anything that I would expect you guys to have an answer for, I would really need to hit up a TV techie for help.
This was just a passing comment I made to soothe my NTSC<->Pal pains that I've felt for many years. I didn't mean to start a big conversation bothering anyone.
Finally, from my point of view... I have a HUGE, CLEAR, NICE, Multi-sync monitor I can show VGA demos on, so I'm just happy you're working on it in the first place, 50hz is fine with me! Thanks! :D
