I think in future we will need some more powerfull computer and Aranym will be unacceptable for many for its "just an emulator".
Well, Aranym is realy great, but thanks to its design, there is no easy way how to develop native software and rely on natfeats for all time consuming operations isn't realy smart.
I like an idea of future machine(doesn't matter however PPC/x86) with
native TOS compatible OS with emulation layer for old applications.
Creating something like that we'll gain maximal power and it will be "real" TOS clone.
There are two ways how to create clone like this.
a) Adopt existing x86/ppc OS, port VDI/AES, create emulation layer for old applications
b) Porting MiNT or EmuTOS.
I know both way will be huge project, and personaly I think it will never be achieved, but if someone mad start project like this, I'll do my best to help him.

For a) and b)Probably yes
For c) and d)Not necesaary, we may use existing PPC/x86 HW also using it may keep price low.
