I'm keeping my enthusiasm for a Supervidel. A good standard graphics upgrade is most important IMHO. The idea that it could work with software old and new, is most attractive.
I have worked on various graphics adapters including Matrix, Nova, Cyrel, and others, and find the compatibility curve to be a true pain. Each one behaves differently, each one is dependent upon its own drivers, plus patches to the OS or NVDI - making another system requiring new drivers to be written for each device seems like a can of worms. Each device and each driver means new potential problems.
There are benefits to standardization.
Besides, it would seem developments for whatever is to attach to the PCI bridge would result in limited energy going in too many directions.
