Hi Joe, as others already said, don't be afraid to ask even 'stupid' questions, nobody knows everything from start. I have no problem to send you my setup but a little trouble is I use Ubuntu setup -- i.e. not a cygwin.
But it's really easy. Install cygwin from their site (plain GUI setup), then Vincent's package (again GUI setup) and here you are. Post output from your failing case. We'll help you here, don't worry.
