Hello.
As the organizer, I've had more people tell me about the frustration when a demo is not released immediately. Which, I guess, is understandable.
But for me, the icing on the cake for a party is to have a great demo in the competition. And when the enemy (that's SMFX!) asks for a month to finish their demo after the party, it's always a yes from our side. It's egoistic, but we choose our party over the Pouet flock of wolves. It won't change, I'll take that frustration any day to have the best Atari demo of the year at our party :-)
I would also like to point out that Sommarhack is more like a bunch of friends meeting up than your regular big demo party. We know the guys and if they say the demo will be out in a little bit, we trust them. I understand that f.ex. Assembly want stuff released immediately as they hand out significant prizes.
However, if the bad guys go AWOL, we have the party version locked up in a secure valve...
