It looks very nice as a 256x256 lookup or a 64x64 without wrapping. I've been mainly looking at 64x64 lookup with wrapping - which is the reason for the slightly funky code earlier. Sorry, I should have made the 'wrap' request in the initial message :-z Doom floors tile like crazy.

Using 256-square textures will be too expensive, but I guess only one axis needs to be 256 - the other could be masked. So one more op and it would work but at a cost of 4x the ram. I'll have a think about that one.

I should do some metrics on the number of floor/ceiling textures actually in use in a typical scene before ruling it out. It might end up being a win if there are only a few of them.


It is a nice bit of code and I'll see if I can find a way to use it even if it requires a mod for the texture wrap. I didn't consider using rectangular textures for this but it might provide some options. Full credit of course.
