c2p

Hi

This is my first post here and sorry to say I'm scrounging for advice on c2p!

I'm trying to improve - maybe even finish BadMood/Doom for the Falc and have been testing 8bit modes as well as TC. When I originally started on BadMood I discounted c2p as too expensive but I'm looking at it again in case I've missed some crazy new developments since then :) I had my own rout but it was made for '040 and it seems pointless reworking that when a better 030 version must exist.

So I cobbled together an 8bit version of the BM renderer last night and plugged in a decent looking c2p rout I was able to find ('c2p1x1_8.s 8-plane c2p by Mikael Kalms'). Strangely it didn't work 'out of the box' due to a short branch not being short... easily fixed but curious...

I did a quick test and found the c2p time quite heavy - somewhere between 65 and 85ms for 168 lines (?) I don't put a lot of faith in that measurement though - the method I used was contrived from other info I collected and worked back manually.

So it would be useful to know how many milliseconds a good c2p would normally take for 320x200 on a stock Falc at 16MHz? That would be enough info for me to decide if it's worth looking more at this or just putting the idea aside.

Regards to all

What's the anti-troll code?
That's your personal code to be able to add comments and messages on the dhs.nu site.
Don't have a code or forgot it? Fix it here.
