Overall performance is not applicable in this context. A faster DSP accellerates specific tasks, such as:
- DSP-assisted JPEG decoding
- Higher MP3 bitrates (Aniplay, Falcamp)
- Faster movie decoding (Aniplay)
DSP speed is completely separate from the rest of the system. You can have a 32Mhz DSP on a 25Mhz bus, but it would be fairly pointless.
