Doit Atari Archives
Posted by: Crash May,24.2006-08:11

I personally don't read German, so I can't read the documents on the Doit archive site that relate to the Atari, since the English documents have been removed. I do the best that I can with translation software, or when I can get a German speaking friend over to help out.

All that I could understand was that the Atari FAQs were no longer supported or available. I didn't have any reason to believe that the author would care about it as long as he didn't have to be bothered with it. I was wrong.

From what I can tell, the author wishes for no one to be able to use any of the the Atari Doit archives. It appears that every effort has been made to remove these files from Internet and ftp sites, including the Internet archives at www.archive.org which state that pages have been removed at the request of the author!

In addition, I can assume that requests have been made to remove discussions of the Atari Doit archives from other forums, probably with success, as such a request was made of this forum within a day or two of the beginning of this thread. He must be vigilant in his Goole searches for "doitf030".

I am personally extremely confused by all of this. I don't know why anyone would go through all of the trouble to create this great collection of information, then destroy it so no one can benefit from it.

I even offered to pay for the Doitf030 archive, but was flatly refused.

So, abandonware, definitely - but the author states the following in the message that accompany my key codes (I edited out the sections related to commercial use and publication) :

"The distribution of unpacked FAQs, Keycodes, spreading, pirat copys are
forbidden.

This process is pursued under use of appropriate means.

It is not permits de-energised files on to third persons to pass!

Archive piracy imeditally starts handling by german (EURO) law."

I don't want anyone to get into trouble by underestimating the extent to which the author wishes to keep these documents secret.

:/
