Hi there,
today i put Uli's ct60 Falcon on my workbench once more.
Replacing the NVRAM with a fresh-celled one indeed didn't solve
its problems.
It was not starting up too reliable anyway. Even with boot 1.03c.
I replaced the 47Ohms SDMA patch resistor with a 75 Ohms one.
Now it does at least start reliable with the known boot-in-030-mode-once
sequence.
I also often see a "unknow flash device" message after klicking "OK"
in ct60conf.cpx or when trying to flash ct60 TOS .
Maybe something is wrong with the flash device. After flashing boot 2.01,
when the Falcon won't boot up in 060 Mode, i flashed Patrice's boot 1.03c with
menu. It told me that the CPU frequency is set to 130 MHz. In fact its half
the frequency because i made a trace cut on the CTCM that divides CPU clock by 2.
To be sure this is not a problem of a faulty CTCM i replaced it by a fixec 48 MHz oscillator (had no faster around).
Effect is the same:
Boot 1.03c flashed - Falcon boots up in 060 Mode
Boot 2.01 flashed - Falcon boots up in 060 Mode after switching it on in 030 Mode and reset
I do not understand whats the trouble cause here. I want to get it sorted out for all ct6x users.
My two ct63 Falcons do boot up in 060 Mode with boot 2.01 flashed after they got a new battery for the NVRAM.
Perhaps Didier can look into the init code of the boot 2.01 and see whats different to boot 1.03c...
Alan, your Falcon has a ct60 as well? Or is it a ct63?
