OK, so the best is to wait a stable release. I must also search a solution for run MagiC 6.20 with NVDI.
I havn't get really a build problem with Gcc 3.3 excepted __CLOBBER_RETURN, but the kernel module crashes at start.
I get also the same result with the km from the trunk-26092010.tar.bz2
Else I looked sources, km use threads who use fork, and I see stack size multiplied by 2 but I havn't found if it's after 2006 or not.
I see also that xaaes not use vq_scrninfo but use his own function detect_pixel_format() who write line in yellow and get the result with vro_cpyfm from screen for found the pixel formal.
Inside Aniplayer I remember that I used this sort of method when vq_scrninfo not exist (no EdDI cookie) for example on NOVA boards.
I think if vq_scrninfo exist it's better to use it.
I can test this detect_pixel_format() without xaaes, and see the result in 65K colors. Normally this method must work because I flush the radeon fifo (accel functions) before read the radeon memory (vro_cpyfm read).
