Saulot, i had that problem, too (with an earlier release).
Workaround: use xcontrol.acc, renamed to xcontrol.prg.
So you can access the CPX without needing to move mouse to
menu bar. Might work with other controlpanel acc, as well.
Sometimes, not always, running wdialog.prg did help here, too.
Try to disable DMA again, with that older TOS beta i had,
enabling DMA made me experience that menu bar freeze.
