well, yes, such task is really bitch one ;-)

you probably know this but there's one "portable" way -- you can use 25 MHz clock and then you're out of problems -- it works on both rgb and vga. but of course you can't gain such high resolutions as with 32 MHz.

detecting clock frequency is just the first problem. another one is to set horizontal hw registers -- you'll love it ;-)
