Relating to Spec512/Sprites
Posted by: Bod/STAX Oct,03.2007-18:25

This is in relation to the Spectrum 512/Sprites thread.

After several attempts to get sprites running over a 512 colour picture, I have succeeded to a point. Now the problem:

The idea I have is to take a 512 colour image, extract the RGB elements to .PI1 pictures then remove the colours 0-3 by setting them to a contrasting colour and remapping them in Degas. Surely if any pixles from 0-3 are not physically in the RGB pictures then they should not appear in the final Spectrum picture, but this is not the case, or am I missing something?

I know that Spectrum rearranges the image in a way to cope with the MOVE.L's an each line for the copying of the palettes and I have since discovered that it doesn't arrange the palettes in 'SHADE-ORDER' like with the RGB files.

I have also rewritten my Spectrum display code so that only colours 4-15 are copied 3 times a scanline and the sprites colours are set once on the VBL.

Any advice would be appreciated as I am convinced that it's possible to do this on the ST.
