So for real-time 3d sphere, the best routine I know for generic 3d-dots routine is the "dessert" part of 3d demo in the the synergy demo, coded by Rapido.
If you want to get benefit of various symetries of 3d round objects the best routines may be the M-Coder one in the froggies loader, or the "3d dots x-form" objects in the "virtual escape" by equinox.
I don't look at the code in the latest one so I can't say how it works exactly. Maybe authors can explain here :-)
