sid voice is generated by a combination of the 680x0 and the MFP that poke the YM registers on a regular basis. if the 2203 is really compatible then it should keep this functionality intact.

software compatible -sounds- good to me, even if i'm not familiar with the term in this context i suspect it means the software can do anything it normally does with the YM2149?

anyway, gwem is the only guy i know who could hack this chip into his atari and code some drivers for it in the same week ;) although for now it would be cool to see what maxYMizer can do on a plain 2149 ;)
