Those random pixels, do you have them while using Videl or Radeon?
I assume its on Radeon, do you have a different card to try?
Radeon.sys is only needed for usage of fvdi, afaik.
I also suggest installing NVDI to your clean setup, and disable
(rename/remove) the nvdidrv*.sys drivers.
The soft-reset issue is strange, indeed. It always works for me.
From clean TOS (started with ctrl pressed) as well as from MiNT.
