If you experience no freezing, then this is no hardware problem. The problem lies somewhere in the driver and upwards (Mintnet).
The Ethernat only has two RX buffers, so if a third packet arrives before the first two have been fetched by the driver and delivered to Mintnet, the third will be thrown away. But resending of packets is the responsibility of the TCP/IP layers (Mintnet), i.e. maintaining the link.
