Re: CTPCI + EtherNat

Hello!

The clock filter at J7 is used for making the clock signal received from the CT60 look nicer on the EtherNat. Without the filter the clock shows some ugly overshoot and undershoot. When we saw this on our oscilloscope, we feared that it would cause instability of the whole system. It's important to note that only one board in the whole stack (CTPCI or SV or Ethernat) has such a filter enabled at any one time, otherwise the clock will be too much delayed by all the filters combined.

The three-pin connector in the upper left corner of the EtherNat is the so called IEI/IEO connector (Interrupt Enable Input / Interrupt Enable Output). It's the result of our collaboration with Rodolphe to try to make the EtherNat/SV work together with the CTPCI regarding the I6 interrupt signal. A board closer to the CT60 has a higher priority than the board above and it should use the IEI signal to tell the board above if it can use the I6 signal. We've decided that the boards should always be mounted in this order:

EtherNat (top)
SuperVidel
CTPCI
CT60 (bottom)

If, for example, the CTPCI needs to activate the I6 interrupt it should first deactivate its IEO signal going up to the SV (IEI into the SV), so that the SV doesn't accidentally react to the interrupt-acknowledge-bus-cycle that the 060 outputs when the I6 is activated. Therefore it's important that the IEI/IEO connectors are connected between each board.

/Henrik
