I'am not a linux user/programmer but inside modedb and the sources that I have used are more than 5 years old now, but in your case only automatic monitor layout seems solve your problem. Now it's the default mode of the TOS and radeon.sys, so you must select DEFAULT else there are no change with previous beta...

DMA writing (local memory -> PCI) works for vrt_cpyfm.
I not use DMA reading (PCI -> local memory) who sometimes write anywhere or above the buffer and create memory corruption.
