>the USB card no longer prevents the system from booting, there's just an error message with OHCI failure and USB disabled.

I've got to follow up on this. The machine was powered down over night, and now it won't complete boot. After running VGA BIOS, there's a message on the VIDEL screen:

"USB: OHCI usb-uPD720101-0, regs address 0x50050000, PCI handle 0x2
Scanning bus for devices..."

Then there once was an immediate reboot, but mostly there's a very long break (several minutes) followed by:

"ERROR: OHCI Unrecoverable Error, controller usb-uPDd
cannot reset port 4!?"

after another couple minutes:

"cannot reset port 5!?"

and yet another couple minutes later:

"cannot reset port 6!?"

followed still later by

"cannot reset port 7!?"

approx. another 2 minutes will lead to

"cannot reset port 8!?"

and slowly I grow tired of waiting :-(

Guess what? Another two minutes later, there comes

"cannot reset port 9!?"

now I'm approx. 15 Minutes into booting, but the only thing new I see is

"cannot reset port 10!?"

will it ever finish? How many non-existent ports is it going to check in vain?

"cannot reset port 11!?"

I did just close the case and was about pushing the tower case back under the desk to take it's normal place, but I guess I'll have to remove the USB card again :-(

"cannot reset port 12!?"

Well, I'm soon going to give up for this weekend and continue next saturday...

"cannot reset port 13!?"

The messages keep crawling in. The post is getting longer, and boring, isn't it?

"cannot reset port 14!?"

25 Minutes and counting... In my opinion, TOS shouldn't try to do anything with the USB card once there has been an error. It won't work anyway then.

"cannot reset port 15!?"

Are we going to see a new record for the slowest ever boot on a CT63 running 100MHz?

"cannot reset port 16!?"

The card has got only 5 ports (4 external, one internal), and one device attched for testing (Logitech RX 250 optical mouse). I'll let it running another couple minutes.

"cannot reset port 17!?"

If it continues this way and finally times out at 255, it will be 10 hours. Waaayyyy ttoooo looooonnnggg...

"cannot reset port 18!?"

Bored
Ektus.
