Re: Super Videl in original case

Hello!

Now I've played around with the SV+EtherNat some more. We realize that having both boards mounted in the original case is the most desired option and a show stopper for many if it's not possible. :-P

SV alone + keyboard: I cut the pins of a connector on the SV that was unnecessarily tall, but the plastic case is still not entirely closable. At the back of the case there is a 1cm gap that is caused by the keyboard, which doesn't reach all the way down. Instead it's resting on the DVI connector.

First we thought about moving the DVI connector further back on the SV and moving the JTAG connector to the bottom side. But this would only take care of the "SV only" option, and still not let you have both SV+EtherNat together with the keyboard.

The only solution that we can think of is something like the CT-extender, that would push the whole CT60 back about 2cm, just enough for the board stack to be out of the way of the keyboard. This would most likely force you to remove or make big mechanical changes to your 2.5" HD-bracket because of the DVI connector.
Also any modern internal PSU that is mounted behind the CT60 might be in the way. This is unfortunately the price for fitting both the SV and the EtherNat in the standard case. :-P

We'll design our own version of the CT-extender, because if we remember correctly the current CT-extender adds one "board height" to the total stack height, which would spoil the purpose. There are special types of connectors that solves this problem. :)

/Henrik
