Went back and played Saint Dragon, only played on an arcade machine one summer at the local camping place where I grew up. Remembered it as a beautiful, but hard game.

The ST version is good, some slowdowns in the frame rate with many sprites on screen, but very playable. This realtime asset management intrigues me, where I can I find more information?
