Yes the caches become even more important in TC mode because the bus is serving so much video data, the CPU gets starved, even just fetching instructions. It is important to maximize use of caches.

I try to do the same with d-cache wherever possible but there are many more scenarios where it's better to turn it off. Still... it is worth looking for opportunities because on rare occasions it can be like having 64 extra data registers, and unlike the i-cache it can still be useful within generated code ;)
