Hi,
Thanks a lot for your explanations.
According to what I read in your replies, I won't change the PMMU settings.
It seems that the "risks" to "crash" the falcon or the game are bigger than the expected gain in cpu ;)
I use a lot of word adressing in racer (eg: $ffff8240.w)
Actually, the game runs like this :
- data caches always off
- standard PMMU parameters
- instruction cache always on
For the instruction cache, I think I've optimized the code to death for it ;)
Racer with the instruction cache on runs at 5 frames
Racer with the instruction cache off runs at 11 frames
The gain is enormous ;)
I'd like to run the game at 4 VBLs instea of 5 (mainly for the beauty of the optimisations ;), but I think I've really optimized all I could.
The final release is nearly finished, I'm curently polishing some last minute things with Templeton and the game should be spread by the end of the month, (mid april if we don't stop adding last minute modifications all the time ;)
Regards
Laurent
