Hi Shazz,

YM dump register was used long time ago in "optimized" oldskool demos :-) ( MCoder use it in its 3 bitplans sprite demo for instance).
When I created YM file format for StSound, I made my own tools to dump music on real atari, linked to my PC with my own cable (emulator does not exist at this time :-))
Standard YM tunes just need to read register back after calling the music driver. As specified in previous post, special care should be used for register 13 (so you have to find "by hand" in the original music driver where the reg13 write acess is located).

For Digidrum, SID, or SyncBuzzer, everything is "manual". There is no automatic tools to to this. You have to carefully read the music driver source code, and get information about MFP frequency, digidrum sample position etc. Lots of work.

If you need basic YM dump for test purpose, you can use SainT . SainT emulator have a build in "YM file recorder" option, but of course it does not support "custom" effect such as SID of Digidrum)

Hope it helps.
Cheers
Leonard
