True Color simply means that you access the colors directly with no lookup table. It has nothing to do with color depth, that's a misconception. The mode *I* used to program in back in the early 1990's was 16-bit True Color. So I had access to a total of 65536 colors. If it were high color, I would have access to over a quarter million colors (32k on-screen though).
The reason why I'm asking about this is because there is far less "banding" in 15/16 bit high color than there is in 16-bit true color. Not to mention any kind of palette manipulation.
So, I was just wondering if I had been programming in 16-bit true color when I didn't really have to is all.
