spectrum 512 sprites

I have a tough question.. well, at least i think so:

has anybody in the history of the ST demo scene tried to get sprite animation inside a Spectrum512 picture?

i'm thinking about it and it sounds like tricky shit. i think something like vertical split palettes using a fat border is possible.. but let's say a 32 colour backdrop and a 16 colour sprites moving over it.. that sounds like hell..

anyone got any clues? ;)
