When you have a limited number of colors it's not slower to adjust the HEX value of the colors you create to the number of bits available on the target platform at least for my coder's self.
Actually for Square5 I used Deluxe Paint only to reorder the colors :p
But it makes no doubt that Promotion is THE tool of choice for professionnal pixel artists ... which (unfortunately) I'm not.
