Well we all know from certain "people" that announcements often lead to nothing. Therefor as a developer I think it is natural not to release preview stuff (except for involved artists ;) ofcourse) and preferrably say "here is something and it is finished" instead of "here is a pile of junk and I'll add things _if_ i find more spare time".
We all do it for the fun and most ppl have jobs beside their Atari hobby so in 2005 people cannot spend 20 hrs/day on Atari stuff anymore ;)
I see no real problem with the scene activity, I think it is still active and as long as ppl have interest in Atari and as long as they remember, nothing will be forgotten.
