Personally I think it's too little to justify software to be rewritten and having demos/games using it. Because as I understood it doesn't give a whole lot of new things.
Still only square wave generator, no filters, still three channels, no sample support etc. It's essentially what we already have, just a little bit upgraded.
But of course, as a hardware hack it's probably good fun :)
