Ultras Amiga intro uses an ST-c2p which is then shuffled into amiga style planes by the copper and blitter, which is the fastest table-based chunky effects I've seen on the 500.
The copper does use some DMA time, so it's not entierly free, but it's quicker than doing 100 timer-b interupts and an addition to two bytes on the STe, but it's not a major difference, copper linedoubling and timer-b linedoubling is not where a potential difference in speed comes from..
The amiga benefit comes from using their more advanced blitter for better use than just converting an ST-screen into an Amiga dito. And that's what I figure this guy writing at Pouet have done. I've not seen the new c2p, but many blitter c2p's on the Amiga have the disadvantage of giving garbage on each second pixel, so you'll get a pattern with every second pixel black, instead of doubled. But as I said, I don't know if this new one have that artefact. If it does have that problem, I don't think it's a perfect comparison to the ST c2p's as the ST ones then would look better.

What's the anti-troll code? That's your personal code to be able to add comments and messages on the dhs.nu site.
Don't have a code or forgot it? Fix it here.
