I guess I have to ask.. is it worth losing HD compatibility for the sake of saving a few seconds on the depack?
Especially given that the ULS/HD-Load would completely blow away the speed of a DMA sector loader that has limited DMA time due to another task executing... (thats why D-Bugs version of Indigo loads so slowly from floppy, its not noticable from the HD or Steem)
This is, of course, assuming you have a CPU heavy effect running while loading/depacking.
Or maybe include a RAMDISK-like feature to "byte copy" the sectors from an image, with a simple .TOS file to kickstart it off (Like I did with the demos on D-Bug 193 which are basically .ST images being sector copied)
You could then issue the demo as a stand alone .ST file (or MSA with a bit of extra processing in the byte-copy rout), with a .TOS stubloader included for HD users.
Just a thought.

if you have a spare sector or two put a Flexible Front screen on there. No great demo is complete without one of their turds :-)
