Well, copying into STRAM isn't any cool solution either -- you must do this manually, too.

DSP writes are approx. two times slower than to ST RAM (due to 8bit bus) but if you count that overhead for copying Fast->ST RAM + slowness of SDMA itself... I'd rather go this way (direct Fast->DSP copy).

IIRC, there's interrupt on 030 side (mapped from DSP) for "host port transfer data buffer empty" which could help as well.

But as you say, benchmarks are always answer :)
