I'm not sure that I figured this one out, but it could be the fourth entry in this line from NEWDESK.INF:

#E 98 04 00 06 00 1A 00 00 00 00

This may reflect several options, but in any case 06 seemed to include Cache On.

Still, MiNT-Teradesk-Xaaes seems to ignore the Newdesk.inf file, so something else was affecting the cache setting. I got around this by setting Teradesk to autorun CACHE_ON.PRG

Of course, after sorting this out, my data transfer speed seems to have dropped back to 8000cps. It has since switched between low speed and high speed, but I don't seem to have any control over this.

If the slow data transfer speed isn't caused by CPU speed or cache, what else could it be?
