Buying a ColdFire SBC
Posted by: Kochise Aug,24.2006-16:46

(SBC = Single Board Computer)

http://www.yaronet.com/hook.php?sl=&s=76645&f=1754&h=16 -> http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/prod_summary.jsp?code=M5485EVB&parentCode=null&nodeId=01098400786959705928692818701EE01FD

-> LOOK FOR "M5485CFE"

360$ for the MOST featured M5485CFE card (2xPCI, VGA, USB host). Then add a Radeon 9250 PCI (eg. http://www.materiel.net/details_CG-SA-9250PCI.html ) and a PCI sound card, then you got it :) Full power, cross devel, EmuTOS compatible, etc...

We are currently trying to figure out if it isn't the good option to buy such an industry standart card (miniITX form factor easy to case, common ATX PSU, CAN, ...) in the widest range possible directly from Freescale. I and Frost are already interrested, why not starting the listing of the people who wants to buy a full featured ColdFire SBC to be on the same level than Didier and everyone having the same compatible hardware ?

For the GPU : AMD (ex-ATI) Radeon 9250
For the PSU : CMedia 8738 (5.1, very widely spread in PC, easy to find, good chip, fair price)

CMedia have public datasheets : http://www.cmedia.com.tw/?q=en/datasheets

QNX 8738 driver source (easy to understand) : http://mike.qnx.org.ru/cmi/index_e.htm
