check the VGA adapter you have, I got black screen when I was using both "bugged" and "debugged" adapter...
I had to boot with bugged one stuck in and then switch to debugged to see the picture, and after that it worked with both of them (I have no explanation for this...) :D
maybe Mac to VGA adapter with dip switches could be solution if that's the case...
watch carefully if there is a floppy/harddisk activity...
try without sdram and see if there is "no sdram present" message...
be careful :)
