I had similar rpoblem with black screen and Falcon booting normally and afteI used "debugged" VGA adapter instead "bugged" one (pin 15 modification) the picture reappeared...After I did it the Falcon booted normally with both adaptors :D
I see no point in it bt that's what happened :)
