No, there are no excemptions that I know of...
I have a registered company. That way I can deduct the VAT on everything I buy for producing the boards, but I'm automatically responsible for collecting VAT from my customers no matter how small business I have.
If I wouldn't have a company it would still be the same prices for you in the end, because the companies from which I buy components or produce the boards are still responsible for collecting VAT from me. The only losers that way are all non-EU customers who would also have to pay the same price of 125 euro to cover my ingoing VAT. This is why Rodolphe has the same price for his boards no matter where in the world you are buying from, because AFAIK he doesn't have a registered company.
So for all EU customers, as we informed previously, let a VAT registered company buy all the boards for your country and then you buy your EtherNats from it, and you will only have to pay the VAT rate of your country. Or possibly no VAT at all if you have such rules as havoc stated for the Netherlands.
