I've seen this happen on drives partioned on pc with fat32.

The solution was somewhat diffuse, if I remember correct I had to use an older hddriver which ignored the strange partion tables, re-partition it (TURNED OFF the pc-compatibility crap in hddriver which can be done at partitioning time).

After that, hddriver v8 was happy.

It might work fine with AHDI/HDX-tools instead of an older hddriver too, not tested that. This crap happened twice when I got 2.5" drives from old pc notebooks.
