If you run a benchmark app such as Kronos, it'll be a lot slower than the CTPCI for a number of reasons.
For example:
1. Kronos doesn't measure screen-screen blits in the VDI test (it blits between fastram and VRAM). That means the SV get a very low score, even though it blits stuff very fast on screen (move windows in 16/32bpp modes for example, and you'll see this). This is a huge mistake in Kronos imo. There should be separate VDI benchmarks for screen-screen blits (actually vram-vram blits) and memory-screen blits.
2. Kronos makes a big deal about VDI functions which are seldom (or never) used. CTPCI accellerates pies, ellipses and polygons very well, and this improves the Kronos score a lot. SV doesn't accellerate them, and get a much lower Kronos score because of this.
One way to see the SV in Kronos is to run the memory benchmarks; the video more benchmark shows the speed of the SV blitter/memory. Still not as fast as the CTPCI (come one - Radeon cards are made by MegaCorp!), but definitely a huge performance improvement.
