Radeon Bugs

Hi all,

I have never been able to get XaAES to work with my Radeon. It has sat for probably a year without me working on it and now I decided to work on it. On my falcon for some reason XaAES with 1.18 crashes hard with a bus error. So I am working with Mint 1.17.0 and the XaAES from that. When I ran XaAES in 1680x1050 or some other high resolution mode, the system would freeze while Jinnee was drawing the bitmap background. If I reduced the resolution by a lot, 640x480x256 color, then *sometimes* it worked. In all cases I notice weird "hot" pixels all over the place, bright color corrupted pixels. Never a group, always single pixels. In all cases, any resolution TOS desktop works fine.

Now I installed the latest ABE, SDR and CTPCI 1M. I reflashed CTPCI tos, then reflashed TOS drivers. I installed the IRQ line, moved hard drives to CTPCI ide. I noticed also on the TOS desktop under kronos that these hot pixels are still there. You can see them changing on every redraw of the opengl test. You can even see them flickering in other spots. Single pixel corruption all over the place. There are definitely transfer errors happening somewhere!

So now at this point after stopping the loading of ztask it works in 1680x1050x32 bit TC. I still can see the hot pixels under XaAES as well. I took a picture of these hot pixels from before at a lower resolution. This is what it looks like.

After pushing it very hard, loading aniplay and playing a big movie, irc, netsurf browsing, and some other things the system froze hard in 10 minutes so there is something still wrong. It is just *less* wrong after the updates.

Any idea what could be wrong with my setup? I am running at 80MHz with ct60 installation with solders. Perhaps my IDE cables connecting the ctpci to the pci slots are no good? They are not 80 pin cables.

Thanks,
Mark
