Thanks for sharing.
Have you checked if there's any kernel options to change the framebuffer address to that of the Radeon card?
In Linux atafb has an option to use a graphics card framebuffer instead of Videl, however X still is a nogo. X starts and everything but there's no graphics output. The log doesn't show any errors. :-/
Oh, and atafb needs some tweaking, the colors are all wrong in the console. (At least in 16-bit mode.)
