This is interesting. I clearly see TOS has found radeon (is listed in slots) so I'd assume PCI cookie should be set as well.
But I see no DMA button nor extended boot modes in neither CPX :( Are you sure Rodolphe is able to boot with FVDI in AUTO folder (or from desktop for that matter) and do see that resolutions? You know, because basically for me 7000 is working in TOS and in FreeMiNT without FVDI I can use boot resolution for xaaes with 'video = 28' in xaaes.cnf, so he can easily think it works for him, too if he doesn't use FreeMiNT and those extented resolutions.
Btw, your mint troubles: it helps to separate partitions to avoid crashes like this. For example, I use(d) following setup:
LNX partition #1: /home and /root (r/w)
LNX partition #2: /var, /etc (r/w; possible to have /etc on separate one, too)
LNX partition #3: all the rest -- /usr, /bin, /sbin, ... (r/o)
With this setup you eliminate file system crashes to minimum -- your system will always boot (as no binary/library will be affected by crash and if you make a backup of /etc, you can easily restore your system in minutes (and it takes only a few KB, as /etc contains only configuration files) ... stuff in /var is mostly unimportant (logs, caches, ... ) so it's ok to lose it.
