That is a very good idea, Patrice! We actually talked about an SDL port the other day, but hoped that some one more suitable than us would do it... :P

There is no cookie right now, since we haven't modified the TOS flash yet. For now, an SDL port could try reading from a SuperVidel-only register, while hijacking the access fault vector. If you get the access fault, you don't have a SuperVidel. That's how the TOS flash patch would have to do it anyway.

Later we will add Xbios patches, for Vsetscreen etc, which use the new SuperVidel registers for setting high resolutions, while still being able to set the old videl registers for compatibility. We will probably use Didier's CTPCI registers. The SuperVidel will of course map over the old videl registers, so the replacement is complete, which is the primary goal of this project.
