Thanks for the feedback about GCC. Sounds like a reliable alternative to PureC running on an emulator and without any character set problems. However there may be a problem finding a debugger for Falcon/TOS that can accept the ELF format (unless GCC can create Atari compatible debug info). The VASM alternative sounds really good.
