Re: Again, DSPMod request

I mean something where when it is possible, the sounds (or the mod itself) are directly into the DSP memory, and when it takes too much memory, being able to mix (fill the DSP memory to avoid some 68030 -> DSP transfers).

As an example, in racer, the sound of the engine is taking 3 ko and loops forever (I just change its frequency). So, it is always send to the DSP by the HOSTport whereas, if it was in the DSP memory, there would be no needs to send it all the time. (in fact, all the sounds of racer take 51 ko).

I think DNT's player takes care of this sample-transfer problem without complicating it by storing samples in DSP-RAM.

The samples are streamed from ST-RAM to DSP-RAM with DMA, so it doesn't slow down the CPU at all. The only thing using up the CPU is the actual Protracker note-player.

And who knows, maybe some maniac would like to make a note-player such as "The Player 6" on Amiga that uses only about 1 scanline CPU.
